Valerie Fillpot serves as the Worship and Creative Arts Director of Coast Chapel. Her musical knowledge and experience started as a young girl who studied classical piano for 8 years, and classical voice training for 6, though she has been singing since before she could talk. She spent many years in church choirs, school choirs and secular choirs. Valerie studied at Bethany University, where she met her husband, Brandon Fillpot, and graduated from Central Bible College in 2011. She grew up in the church, and has had a passionate love for Jesus her whole life. Her call to ministry came at a pivotal point in her life when she was studying to have a career in Opera; God told her that he had another plan for her life, and has pursued her calling of music ministry ever since. She also writes music for ministry, which is currently in the process of being recorded and published. It will be made public in the next few months!
Though born in California, and is a U.S. citizen, she also has a Chilean citizenship. Valerie grew up primarily in Walnut Creek, Ca. and has lived in Chile as well. She was diagnosed with epilepsy at 6 months old, and after having experienced all the medications not working, went through an experimental brain surgery when she was 6 years old. It was nothing short of a miracle that she not only survived it, but got completely healed, and suffers no major side-effects from the surgery. She lives every day knowing that her life is an amazing testimony and gift from God.
